Nevada Appeal advertising director Mary Jurkonis is taking over as publisher of the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, Sierra Sun and Tahoe World.
Jurkonis also served as marketing director for Tahoe-Carson Area Newspapers.
Jurkonis was the major account and entertainment sales manager for the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Examiner for four years before coming to Tahoe-Carson Area Newspapers 1998.
In addition to the Bonanza, Tahoe-Carson Area Newspapers includes the Tahoe World, Sierra Sun, the Tahoe Daily Tribune, and the Nevada Appeal.
She has also worked in advertising management at the Fresno Bee, West County Times in Richmond, and the Hayward Daily Review in Hayward.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to work on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, to get involved in the community and help maintain the quality of our newspapers here," Jurkonis said.
Jurkonis is a resident of Incline Village and has owned a home there for the past seven years.
Nick Baptista, who spent five years as publisher of the Bonanza, left the paper to pursue other opportunities.
"I think Mary, as a long-time resident in Incline, will be a great fit and her marketing background will help us better service Incline Village and the other North Shore communities," said Jeff Ackerman, Nevada Appeal publisher and regional general manager for Tahoe-Carson Area Newspapers.
