Armed UNR student keeps police at bay after an argument with girlfriend

An armed University of Nevada, Reno student kept Reno police at bay for two hours Wednesday night after arguing with his girlfriend.

According to broadcast reports, Reno police received a call to the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at UNR. When police first arrived they heard an argument between an unidentified male student and a female. The student emerged with a gun and police evacuated the building.

Negotiators talked to the student for two hours, during which time he fired one shot in the house. No one was hurt. The student eventually surrendered and was transported to the hospital.
