A $1,000 reward is being offered for information on the theft of $1,500 in property from the model airplane airport on Flint Drive.

Someone apparently attached a chain to the bulletproof window coverings on the side of the Parks and Recreation Department building, ripped it free of its casing and took approximately $1,500 worth of property belonging to the High Sierra Radio Control Club, said club Treasurer Bob Brogan.

Club President Paul Neves spotted the gaping hole left by the missing window at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

"Paul was the one who discovered it and made the report and had the sheriff out here," said Brogan.

"Apparently they yanked the window out and they came through."

Missing from the club house at the airstrip on Flint Drive was a club-owned trainer model airplane, a generator, a paint sprayer, a kerosene heater and a battery for the lighting system.

"We will offer a $1,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprit or culprits," Brogan said.

In the meantime, Neves, Brogan and field marshal Harold Seigfried spent Wednesday afternoon boarding up the window until the parks department can repair the damage.

"The city will repair their building, but our loss is our loss, " Neves said.

"We're supporting the community, its a great hobby, its not like were a bunch of old men out here with toy airplanes." Seigfried said. "This is a facility that were really proud of and trying to take and do good things with, this really screws us up."
