Thomas Johnson, president of Gold Dust Commercial Associates of Carson City, is among three Nevadans appointed to the Business Bank of Nevada board of directors.
Other new board members announced last week are former Nevada Gov. Bob List and Steven Coffey, managing partner of Coffey & Rader certified public accounting firm.
Johnson, the bank's first board member to represent Northern Nevada, is a commercial real estate broker and developer in Carson City. In 1974, he was licensed in Nevada as a real estate agent. Since 1976, his company has worked in the area of commercial real estate serving all of western Nevada.
During his 26-year career, Johnson has helped hundreds of local and national businesses relocate or expand to northern Nevada. He is actively involved in various community programs such as the Carson City Planning Commission, the Carson City Redevelopment Agency and has served as a board member for the Northern Nevada Development Authority.
Johnson has also taught Junior Achievement at the middle school level and he volunteers at the Brewery Arts Center. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a bachelor's of science degree in business administration.
List also served as governor from 1978 to 1982, after two terms as Nevada attorney general from 1970 to 1978. He also served as Carson City district attorney from 1966 to 1970. List is currently chief executive officer of the Robert List Co. He also served 13 years on First Interstate Bank of Nevada's board of directors.
Coffey is a managing partner at Coffey & Rader, which he helped form in 1997. Previously, he worked as an accounting manager for Southwest Gas Corp. from 1988 to 1996, and as a senior accountant and auditor of Fortune 500 Companies for Arthur Andersen & Company from 1984 to 1988.
Business Bank of Nevada, with assets of over $146 million, is in its fifth year of operation has four branch offices in Nevada, with three in the Las Vegas area and one in Carson City.
