The Carson City Sheriff's Department will be sponsoring free firearm safety training classes for the general public. Instruction will be provided by the Nevada Firearms Training Academy.
Attendees will learn how to safely handle, store and childproof firearms and ammunition. Class dates are July 19, Aug. 7 and 16. All classes begin at 6 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
