Clark named solicitor general

Maj. Gen. Drennan Anthony Clark, longtime adjutant general and chief military adviseor to the governor, has been named the state's solicitor general.

He will take over Jan. 22 after finishing his term as head of the Nevada National Guard.

The solicitor general oversees the handling of all litigation at the Attorney General's Office.

Clark, a Reno lawyer, has been adjutant general since 1986, commanding more than 3,000 members of the Nevada Air and Army National Guard.

"Gen. Clark brings with him a wealth and wide variety of legal and leadership experience," said Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa.

Clark received his law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1964 and practiced as a member and then partner of the firm Guild, Hagen and Clark in Reno until he was named adjutant general. He has also served on the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission, the Nevada Board of Bar Governors and the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners as well as the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

Clark will receive $90,426 - about $10,000 more than he gets as adjutant general.
