Interested in open space? The Carson River? Improving transit or keeping the capital's history? If you ever considered serving on a Carson City board, commission or committee, here's an opportunity. Positions are open on the following boards:
-- There is an opening on the Carson River Advisory Committee for a property owner with 20 or more acres along the river. The committee advises the Board of Supervisors on all matters concerning the development, maintenance, management and operation of the Carson River. The term expires January 2004.
-- There are two openings on the Public Transit Advisory Committee. The committee oversees matters related to system operations of the city's public transit. Terms expire in January 2003.
-- The city's Open Space Advisory Committee has three openings. The committee oversees the purchase and management of open space. Terms are for four years.
-- The Historic Architecture Review Commission has positions open for an architect, building contractor and historical representative. The commission oversees projects in the capital's historic district and makes recommendations to the planning commission and Board of Supervisors. Terms expire in January 2005.
Members of all committees should expect to serve 10 hours a month. Applications for all positions are due Dec. 22.
