Douglas deputies search for robbery suspect

Douglas County sheriff's officers were searching late Tuesday for a man dressed in blue following a bank robbery at the Bank of America, 276 Kingsbury Square, Stateline.

There were no injuries and authorities would not say how much money was taken.

The robber was described as a white male, 35-38 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, medium build with shoulder-length brown hair under a blue baseball hat. He was wearing blue slacks and a blue dress jacket, and walked into the bank about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, deputies said.

The suspect was described as having a very unusual-looking nose and witnesses said it was covered with a blue Band-Aid.

According to DCSO Sgt. Lance Modispacher, the man indicated in a note he passed to the teller that he had a weapon, but one was not seen by witnesses. He left on foot, running east from the bank.

Paramedics were called to the scene to assist a teller, who is pregnant and apparently passed out during the robbery.

A spokesperson for the bank who answered the phone about 45 minutes after the robbery said the bank was not releasing a statement.

The sheriff's office and the FBI are investigating the robbery using videotape and witness statements.

During the search for the robber, a resident flagged down police to report a bear in a tree between residences on Meadow and Juniper streets, south of Charles Street. The Nevada Division of Wildlife was called to trap the bear.
