The Douglas High School drama department and International Thespian Troupe #990 will present the play "A Christmas Carol," an adaptation by Doris Baizley, at 7 p.m. in the DHS drama room, Dec. 1, 2, 7, 8, 14 and 15. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee Dec. 2.
Tickets will be available at the door or may be purchased in advance from any cast or crew member at $5 for adults and $4 for students, seniors and teachers.
This is a a highly inventive adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic Christmas favorite, paired down to its essential elements.
"In this version, we encounter a company of traveling players about to enact the Dickens story. The acting troupe soon discovers that the actors playing Scrooge and Tiny Tim have abandoned the tour. But the show must go on, and the prop boy eagerly volunteers for the part of Tiny Tim, while the cynical stage manager must be forcibly drafted to play the old miser, Scrooge," said drama coach Julie Franklin.
"It's a 90-minute blitz of non-stop enchantment," proclaimed the LA Herald Examiner.
