Holiday Memories: Surprise visitor brings smile

One year in October, my father Jack had suffered a stroke, then in November my mother broke her ankle which required surgery and quite a bit of hardware to repair, so needless to say they both were a little glum at Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, our whole family had gathered at their house to celebrate when there was a knock at the door and the sound of bells. In came Santa Claus who passed out candy canes and wishes to everyone which brought big smiles to everyone, most importantly my parents.

I had said to my husband, "Who could that be?" Santa looked at me with a wink and a smile and said, "Think about it and you will know." He left without another word.

My brother checked outside and there were no cars to be seen anywhere and Santa was gone. To this day, we still aren't sure if it was really Santa or not.
