FALLON - An Internet predator who made his way from Texas to Fallon to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl he met on the Internet has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by a Churchill County judge.

Christopher M. Woodworth, 31, will serve at least two years before he is eligible for parole, said Churchill County District Attorney Arthur Mallory.

Mallory said police learned about a Mineral County investigation of Woodworth, then connected him to a statutory sexual seduction in Fallon. Woodworth pleaded guilty to the felony charge, and Mallory argued for the maximum sentence.

"His attorney tried to point out that this was his first run-in with the law, but a psychosexual evaluation found that he was a pedophile," Mallory said.

The victim said the two met in an Internet chat room. The man reportedly drove from Texas and had intercourse with the girl despite objections by the girl's mother.

Along with the prison sentence, Woodworth will have to submit to DNA testing and sex offender registration.
