K-9 search finds suspected burglars

GARDNERVILLE - Two teenagers were arrested early Monday morning after a K-9 dog was able to track them from the scene of two burglaries.

Wesley James Bowler, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested shortly after 2 a.m. for suspicion of two counts of burglary and burglary related crimes near Seasons Tickets Bar, where a break-in had occurred.

The pair allegedly used burglary tools to enter the bar where they are believed to have stolen a large box of alcohol, according to reports. They then went on to an unlocked car where camping equipment, tools, and stereo equipment were nabbed, reports state.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. the owner of the car discovered the break in and called the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. Investigators quickly noticed a 1984 Toyota loaded with the stolen goods. The car is believed to belong to one of the suspects.

To locate the suspects, they used a K-9 dog, which led investigators to an area dumpster and on to another hiding spot.

According to reports, the duo hid in the dumpster for about an hour when they saw deputies at the scene.

Bowler, a Gardnerville Ranchos resident, is being held on $102,000 bail, and the boy, also from the Ranchos, is being held at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Facility at Stateline.
