Letter: Bars should offer shuttle services

Much has been said already about drunk drivers and the reduction of the legal alcohol content reduction. It is time to stop talking and doing something about this explosion of killers on the road!

I hear the casinos talking about how they want to get involved in our community and yet they continue to offer free drinks to their customers and tell them to leave when they are too drunk (or drunk and broke). They are not helping our community when they do this, they are thinking of themselves!

There is a viable option here. I hereby challenge all bars and casinos in Carson City to set up a shuttle system to take home inebriated customers, at the same time confiscating their keys so they can't come back for their cars 5 minutes later. Some bars may think "I am to small to do this, I would go broke!" The solution for that would be to proportion the dues for the service.

Lastly to the public: If you see someone who appears to be drunk driving, get his plate number, description of the car and driver and the direction he or she is taking and call the police. Then we will see if our police force is doing their job!

Thank you, and let's just do it. No more blood on our streets. Leave it at the Blood Bank instead!
