Letter: Is freeway bike path really needed in the city?

A couple of things really bother me.

First, is the bike path along the freeway. Do we really need it? East Fifth was designed to include a bike path. As many times as I travel east on Fifth to go to the Senior Center via Roop and also to Highway 50 businesses, via Saliman, I have never seen a single cyclist in one of the lanes. I repeat, never! The use of these paths is seasonal at best. I certainly doubt it would be used in the winter when the snow flies, and it doesn't seem to be used any other time either. Is this the place to put so much money for something that will be used so seldom and by so few? I don't think so!

Second, we desperately need a four-way stop at 10th and Curry. This corner has become very dangerous. You are unable to see around parked cars so you must inch your way out. Curry is being used as a way to avoid 395 all the way to Koontz Lane. The powers that be should put a four-way stop in that location before people are killed. The four-way at Sixth and Curry works fine.
