On Friday, Sept. 29, you printed a letter by Barbara Myers, candidate for State Board of Education, "Appeal shouldn't allow columnist to continue." What is her problem? What destroyed the Roman Empire? Morality. We are suffering from the degeneration of morals from Washington down to our school children and in between.
Bob Thomas quoted Adolph Hitler, "What luck for rulers that men do not think." As a child in the '30s growing up in a German community, Hitler was praised when he first took over. Things changed. "History is still there." Study it, or is Ms. Myers too young to have been exposed to WWII and not interested in history? Is Ms. Myers a school teacher? If men (people) had thought instead of blindly followed, maybe Hitler would not have come into power and the quote would not have been made. It is time for all to start thinking and stop following the Washington Ego.
Give Bob Thomas a break. He does not care for Michelle Trusty-Murphy. Let him have his opinion. You have your opinion, and so do I. I have known Bob for a long time, and he is not a vicious person. Do you, Ms. Myers, mean to tell us that you never comment about anyone? Apparently Ms. Myers knows Mr. Thomas well enough to ignore his column and then reprimand him by a letter to the editor. I have not seen any in Carson City wearing a halo. I do not know either Myers of Trusty-Murphy. Maybe I am lucky.
