Had a good laugh Wednesday when I opened up the paper and saw on page 5 a political ad taken out by Neil Weaver recanting his choice for mayor. In all honesty, the only positive reaction I took from it was to strengthen my feelings and my enthusiasm for Mayor Ray Masayko, as I'm sure it did for a lot of other Carson City residents.
It's only obvious that Mr. Weaver is upset about something. What, we don't know, for he left us all having to read between the lines. Big mistake. I'm left to guess Mr. Weaver had his toes stepped on somewhere down the line. My guess is it had something to do with him losing money. (Because honestly, isn't this whole small town political circus about making those nameless, faceless, behind-the-scenes individuals lots of money?)
I mean, why else would you take out a full page ad - what did that cost? Oh yeah, I forgot, the Appeal is behind and endorses Tom Tatro. Where is the surprise in that statement? Wasn't that grossly evident starting about 1 1/2 months ago when the paper started running front page stories on Tom Tatro do-goods? Did I mention front page? Oh, my gosh, how blatant could you get?
The best one I must say was the front page apology written by Jeff Ackerman, for switching the names of the Tatro brothers under their photo that also appeared in the paper, front page news.
Mr. Ackerman, do us all a favor. Save the apologies for the numerous school children who read the Appeal as part of their classroom assignment, who continually find misspelled words, poor grammar and incomplete sentences. This coming from professionals.
I'm sure Mr. Tatro is a decent person, I don't doubt that. Do I feel he is capable of being our mayor? No, I do not. I agree with Bob Thomas; the only new cause I see Tom Tatro bringing to the office of mayor is full-time conflict of interest.
I am voting for Mayor Ray Masayko for his proven leadership skills, his vision, devotion and passion for the people of Carson City.
