Letter: Wyett's loss will be severe blow to state

Recent news articles describe problems with the Nevada Department of Probation and Parole. As if that isn't enough, a recent report in the Las Vegas Review Journal disclosed that Parole Board Chairman Richard Wyett is resigning effective Dec. 15.

The report states that Wyett is stepping down because he has "lost the support of Gov. Kenny Guinn." There is something very wrong here. Rich Wyett has over 29 exemplary years of service to the State of Nevada, and his loss will be a severe blow to the Nevada Board of Parole.

I hope the Nevada Appeal will investigate this matter and inform the public as the taxpayers of this state have every right to know what is going on in state government. This is very important to public safety.
