A man was taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital after he crashed his Cadillac SUV into the side of a parked Chevrolet van at the intersection of Saliman Road and Long Street Tuesday night.

A Carson City deputy on the scene said the SUV did not leave any skid marks. Both the SUV and the van were towed from the scene.

Carson High School sophomore Lindsey Strouse said she was getting a drink in the kitchen of her apartment when she heard the crash.

"I heard a big bang and dropped my glass," she said.

The force of the crash pushed the van into Lindsey's narrow back yard.

The airbag on the SUV deployed.

David Strauss, Lindsey's father, said that if the van had not been there, The SUV could easily have hit the apartment.

The accident occurred at about 9:08 p.m.
