NDOT showed no feeling for shrine

This letter is in regard to the shrine memorial for 9-year-old Krystal Steadman that was left on Highway 50 from the time of her death.

To the Nevada Department of Transportation supervisor who gave the order to have the shrine removed and hauled to the dump, shame on you!

Holding the passion that you hold, don't you know how to pick up a phone?

You could've called the local newspapers or the police at Stateline and gotten a message to Krystal's family to come and remove it. Didn't you think that maybe her family would have wanted those things?

Many of us who took the time to pull over to pray and leave tokens of blessed wishes for Krystal and her family meant for them to keep those things so that they would have the memories from those of us who felt their pain.

We are the lucky ones. Our children are still with us, safe at home.

Maybe there was no common sense or compassion on the part of NDOT in this matter.

I believe that those people who are involved in the removal of Krystal's memorial should think about what they've done and go to the dump and find those bags of mementos and deliver them with good intentions to Krystal's family.

Many of us in the community are shocked by the poor choice by those involved to take those mementos to the dump.

I know a lot of us would love to pick up our local paper and see another photo of Krystal's memorial along with a positive story of good intentions by those involved.
