A Mass for Herman Joseph Franz, 88, a Gardnerville resident for the past 12 years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gall's Catholic Church.
Mr. Franz died July 2, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Appleton, Wis., to Emil and Kate Wittmann Franz.
He received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Richmond, Calif.
Mr. Franz was a chemical and corrosive engineer. He was a Roman Catholic.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife Rosemary Meulemans; daughter Margaret Ann Franz of Lafayette, Calif.; son John of Richmond and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Eastside Cemetery.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
