Obituary: Ida Kate Cassity

Ida Kate Cassity, 96, a Carson City resident for the past 14 years, died Sept. 3, 2000, at Carson Health Care. She was born Sept. 29, 1903, in Los Angeles, to John Orson and Kate May Connelley Kemple.

Her early years were spent at the Yellow Pine Mining Camp and Goodsprings, Nev. Before moving to Carson City, she lived for many years in Las Vegas and Kingman, Ariz.

Mrs. Cassity was a homemaker. She loved bird watching, baking and reading. She was very proud of her heritage and enjoyed genealogy research, family pictures and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Cassity in 1986 in Kingman and children Dorothy Mclver in 1925, Stanley McIver in 1993 and Earl Cassity in 1984.

Among her survivors are her sister Evelyn Stewart of Las Vegas; daughter-in-law Beverly McIver of Carson City; sister-in-laws Juanita Zabel of Las Vegas, Mabel Bollschweiler of St. George, Utah and Ruth Brooks of Kingman; five grandchildren, Sharon Arnold of Portland, Ore., Chris Artus of Las Vegas, Roderick McIver of Carson City, Bonnie Fields of Las Vegas and Scott McIver of Carson City; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with a private family gathering in the Hualapi Mountains outside Kingman at a later date.
