A funeral for James F. Bentley, 86, a Carson City resident for the past seven years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home, 1380 Highway 395 in Gardnerville.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.
Mr. Bentley died Dec. 23, 2000, at Carson Health Care Center in Carson City. He was born Jan. 21, 1914, in Kentucky to John Bentley and Eva Franklin. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Prior to living in Carson City he resided in Blanchester, Ohio.
He married Orpha Cornett March 2, 1935, in Hindman, Ky.
Mr. Bentley worked in the coal mines in Anco, Ky., for 15 years and as an air conditioning, plumbing and heating repairman for several years.
He was one of the founders of the Blanchester Volunteer Fire Department as well as serving on the fire department board. He was also proud of his service as a councilman for Blanchester.
Mr. Bentley is a past member of the First Church of God in Blanchester.
Among his survivors are his wife Orpha of Carson City; sons Buford of Middleburg, Fla., and James of Carson City; daughters Janette Bentley Hunt of Carson City and Wilma Jean Bentley Raynsford of Hurst, Texas; brothers Claude and Robert Bentley of Blanchester and Raymond Bentley of Milan, Ind.; sisters Lola Back and Nancy Johns, both of Phoenix, Dorothy Prater of Kentucky, Daliah Mae Quillan of Tennessee and Nora Violet Leitch of North Carolina.
Burial will be at Eastside Cemetery and Memorial Park in Minden after the chapel service.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Gardnerville is in charge of arrangements.
