Obituary: Melvin F. Wiley

A memorial Mass for Melvin F. Wiley, 62, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, will be at noon Saturday, Dec. 23 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Father Jerry Hanley officiating.

Mr. Wiley died Dec. 13, 2000, at Washoe Village at South Meadows. He was born Sept. 13, 1938, in Amity, Pa., to Daniel Raymond and Esther Hickman Wiley.

He married JoAnne Greenwald in Reno Feb. 24, 1970.

Before moving to Carson City he lived in Reno from 1961-85.

Mr. Wiley was a grounds maintenance worker for the State of Nevada. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trap shooter. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Knights of Columbus and the Capitol City Gun Club. He was also a member of St. Teresa Avila Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Daniel.

Among his survivors are his wife Joanne, of Carson City; daughter Cecilia Rios, of Sparks; brothers Harold and Harry, of Reno; and Ralph, of Waynesburg, Pa.; sisters Anna Marie Suniega, Irma Snyder, Carolyn Johnson and Mary Alice Fisher, of Waynesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa's Building Fund, 108 N. Minnesota St., Carson City, Nev. 89703.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
