A private memorial service for Richard Newton Arnold, 60, a Gardnerville resident for the past six years, will be Sunday at the family home.
Mr. Arnold died Nov. 1, 2000 at his home. He was born March 18, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Wilbur G. and Dorothy Fuss Arnold.
He married Joyce Lennete Halsey on Nov. 16, 1973, in Las Vegas.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Simi Valley, Calif.
Mr. Arnold was a retired electronics technician. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He loved to build and work on hot rod autos, and when he was a teenager, he built several hot rod cars that were featured in Hot Rod Magazine.
He served for eight years in the U.S. Navy as a second class petty officer. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 27 years in October 1999.
Among his survivors are his son James Edward of Gardnerville; daughters Lori Ann Eley of Holiday, Fla. and Julie Watanabe of Palmdale, Calif. and nine grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
