William Guy Rogers, 70, a Carson City resident for the past 24 years, died July 25, 2000, at his home near Carson City. He was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Fort Missoula, Mont., to Noel (Jack) and Bertie Willis Rogers.
He attended schools in Billings, Mont., graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1948 and attended Montanta State University.
He married LuElla Carstenson in 1977.
Mr. Rogers worked at various jobs in Billings, including 17 years with the Yellowstone County Department of Motor Vehicles. After moving to Carson City in 1976, he was employed at Frontier Travel & Tours until 1993. After his retirement he enjoyed seasonal, part-time employment with the Indian Hills General Improvement District Parks & Streets Department.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are his wife Lu of Carson City; sons Rick and wife Linda and Darrel of Huntley, Mont.; daughters Louise and husband Bill Quirk of Sacramento, Calif. and Susan Carlson of Sheperd, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Harvey and wife Terry Rogers of Lakeside, Mont.; stepdaughter Linda and husband Jerry Hurst of Incline Village; stepson Danny and wife Janelle Dubbs of Grand Island, Neb.; seven step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren and his special cat, Pilgrim.
At his request, no service will be held.
Cremation will be under the direction of Capitol City Cremation and Burial Society, and his families will scatter his ashes at a private ceremony.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary's Hospice, 3264 Goni Road No. 151, Carson City 89706. Remember him by planting a rose bush or a tree, by feeding the birds or by adopting a cat.
