System & how may tie into the regional water distribution plan.

The second in a series of studies on how future domestic water needs within the Carson River Basin may be met is ready for review.

The Carson Water Subconservancy District tonight will look over the results of a study regarding water availability within the Marlette-Hobart system and how it may tie into the proposed multi-county regional distribution system. A proposal tying the Carson City system to Mound House was presented to the board in July.

Along with a Carson City-Douglas County link, the projects are considered the top priorities within the overall plan to increase flexibility of water supplies throughout the Carson River system. As part of the second phase of the endeavor, the district allocated approximately $126,000 for the three projects.

The first phase includes the completion of water master plans for each of the counties and towns along the river, extending from Douglas County to Churchill County.

Senior hydrologist Chuck Zimmerman of Brown & Caldwell will present the report.

The subconservancy district comprises representatives from Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Churchill counties. It was formed by the state legislature to foster cooperation toward the conservation, development and protection of the water resources of the upper Carson River basin.
