Therapy pets looking for volunteers

The Love on a Leash, Therapy Pets program is looking for volunteers to share their pets with the elderly and disabled.

Rosalie Lansdowne, the founder of the program, said volunteers can bring their pets or can help handle other pets in the program. To volunteer, call Lansdowne at 883-1635.

The group mainly visits senior citizens in retirement homes and convalescent centers.

"It is not unusual for for a person who is almost totally unresponsive to their human care givers to come alive when they see one of the pets that go visiting," Lansdowne said.
