Vets Day closings vary

With Veterans Day falling on a Saturday, businesses and offices in Carson City are taking a variety of stands on when to close.

Schools and local, state and federal government offices are closed today, but most banks are open and the mail will be delivered. No mail will be delivered Saturday, though.

The Carson City Library will be closed today and Saturday. The city animal shelter will be open Saturday but is closed today.

Most Carson City-area banks will maintain regular hours today but will close Saturday for the Veterans Day holiday.

Only Wells Fargo and the Albertsons-based branches of U.S. Bank will maintain their regular Saturday banking hours.

The Nevada State Bank branch in Smiths, Cal Fed and Bank of America, which otherwise have regular Saturday hours, will be closed Veterans Day.

First Security Bank, First National Bank of Nevada, Irwin Union Bank, and Bank of the West do not have Saturday hours and will be open today. Business Bank of Nevada, which has no weekend hours, is closed today.

Greater Nevada Credit Union branches will be closed both today and Saturday.

The Carson City Marriage Bureau will be open through the weekend.
