LOS ANGELES - Police arrested a 21-year-old man Monday in the fatal shooting of his mother early that morning.
Patricia Ann Ricks, 50, was shot several times in her southwest Los Angeles apartment just after midnight, police said.
Robert Ricks Jr. fled after the shooting, but was arrested later in the day, said Officer Elena Barba of the Police Department's Southwest station.
After police asked for the public's help in finding Ricks, citizens reported seeing him in an area about three miles west of the shooting. Officers arrested Ricks in the area about 1:30 p.m. Monday; KABC-TV of Los Angeles reported they found him hiding in an alley.
A neighbor said Patricia Ricks lived with her four daughters in the apartment, and also took care of Robert Ricks Jr.'s 2-year-old son.
