A late-season fire blazed Friday in northern Lyon County, charring an estimated 100 acres of Bureau of Land Management land.

The fire, reported about 2 p.m., had crews from at least five stations scrambling to help the small bureau crew with containment, said a spokesman at the North Lyon Central Fire Protection District.

He said firefighters from Wadsworth, Truckee, Nevada Division of Forestry, Doyle and the BLM were among the initial respondents.

The fire was reported off Paiute Pit Road near Wadsworth, on the line between Washoe and Lyon counties.

Fire crews said they were hoping the cool weather would contain the fire.
