Jackie Clay has been selected as the new curator of history at the Nevada Historical Society in Reno.

She was director of Sutter County Museum in Yuba City, Calif., and has worked in Las Vegas, Mississippi and Colorado. She has a master's degree in history.

Phillip Earl retired from the post last year.

Society Director Peter Bandurraga said Clay is developing new educational programs and wants to improve ties to area schools. She will also manage publication of the Nevada Historical Society Quarterly.

She assumed her new duties Jan. 10.
