In the past six years that I have participated in Halloween activities, we have always trick or treated on the same day as Carson City because of Nevada Day.
Now that it has been voted a three-day weekend and Nevada Day celebrations are on Saturday, Carson is trick or treating on Halloween.
I thought the reason we celebrated on a day other than the parade day was for safety reasons so the kids wouldn't be out with all the people who may have celebrated a little too much at the parade. Why now are we being different and putting our kids at risk and trick or treating on the same day as the parade? Lyon and Douglas counties should reconsider their decision and trick or treat on the same day as Carson City as we have done in the past for the safety of all.
