A Carson City man was arrested for a suspected attempted kidnapping Sunday after he reportedly chased two young boys through a field near the 600 block of Roop Street, caught one and released him when the boy's father noticed the commotion.
Mathew Ivan McNee, a 37-year-old North Carolina native, was reportedly living in a trailer in the abandoned field. He was picked up by deputies at 10:27 a.m. in the 700 block of Parkland Avenue.
According to arrest report, McNee caught up with a 10-year-old boy when he fell, then grabbed his arm. The boy confirmed the father's story, identifying McNee as the assailant. He said he was scared and did not want to go with McNee.
McNee was still in jail Tuesday afternoon, being held on $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for March 21 at 1:30 p.m.
McNee pleaded guilty to an unrelated domestic battery charge last week.
