Richard McIntire has been named to the Nevada Public Utilities Commission.
He replaces Michael Pitlock whose term expires Dec. 1
McIntire is currently director of regulatory operations for the PUC and oversees policy proposals regarding deregulation of electric, gas and telecommunications utilities. Prior to that, he was an economist with the bureau of Consumer Protection within the attorney general's office.
"I hope my experience with deregulation issues and familiarity with the Public Utilities Commission will serve me well in my role as a commissioner," he said in accepting the appointment.
Gov. Kenny Guinn said McIntire's knowledge of how the commission works and his background as a consumer advocate make him a "perfect selection for this important post."
