A Mexican citizen was arrested in Carson City Monday after a drug-sniffing dog led to the discovery of a large quantity of methamphetamine in the car he was driving, reports indicate.
Ruben Manuel Miramontes-Diaz, 19, was pulled over at 11:43 p.m. near Scolari's grocery store on Highway 50 East. When he was unable to produce a license or insurance, he was arrested on suspicion of traffic charges.
The arrest report said that the officer believed the vehicle's appearance was suspicious so he requested a drug-sniffing dog. The dog revealed a bag containing 57 grams of suspected methamphetamine, according to the report. In the same location officers found what they believe is a marijuana cigarette.
Miramontes-Diaz was booked on charges of suspicion of drug dealing and drug possession with bail set at $15,800.
