RENO - A Reno convenience store owner was found dead in his business Saturday afternoon.

The victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of family members, was fatally shot at Bains Mini-Mart in central Reno.

A customer found the man laying on the floor with a single gunshot wound shortly after 1:30 p.m. Police found the victim dead when they arrived.

Police said a surveillance camera may offer clues but they're unsure whether it was working at the time.

A man was taken into custody for questioning outside the store at Yori and Taylor streets.

RENO - An unemployed Reno construction worker must spend a year in jail for a series of road rage incidents here this spring.

Reno Municipal Court Judge Ken Howard handed down the sentence Friday to Jon Jensen, 29, who was convicted of disturbing the peace.

Prosecutors said the sentence sends a message to other motorists about the consequences of road rage.

On May 2, Jensen followed one motorist home, dragged her out of her car and punched her in the face, breaking her glasses.

On April 9, he got out of his car and pounded on another vehicle, and later nearly rammed another car with two children inside.

''One thing we can be thankful for is no one was hurt any more than they were,'' Howard said.

Jensen lawyer Dennis Cameron maintained his client was out of control because he mixed an anti-depressant drug with alcohol.

''I really am sorry for all you folks,'' Jensen said. ''I want to start a new life.''

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - A 42-year-old woman has been arrested for investigation of manslaughter in the death of a South Lake Tahoe woman.

Romona Hand of South Lake Tahoe was booked Wednesday in the death of Gayle Newman, 42.

Police said Newman was found dead in her trailer Monday after seeking medical treatment for injuries suffered in a June 15 fight with Hand.

Newman was released from Barton Memorial Hospital, but complained of pain upon her return home, neighbors said. When a friend went to check on her Monday, Newman was found dead.

Police said the cause of death is under investigation, but an autopsy led investigators to arrest Hand.

RENO - A Reno woman spent more than eight hours trapped inside her car after it crashed and landed in an obscure ditch along a city street.

Police said Cheryl Webb, 39, was rescued Friday afternoon after a pedestrian spotted her vehicle along West Fourth Street near Mayberry Avenue.

The car was on its roof and was not visible to traffic on the street.

Investigators said Webb was westbound on West Fourth Street when her car left the roadway, crashed through a metal guardrail and went airborne into the ditch.

Webb was taken to Washoe Medical Center, where she was treated for a broken ankle as well as cuts and bruises.

An investigation is under way. Police said it was unknown whether alcohol may have been a factor.
