Noted speaker, preacher, motivator coming to Carson

Brother Bob Harrington has been recognized in many walks of life.

The mayor of New Orleans officially proclaimed him "The Chaplain of Bourbon Street" and the governor of Louisiana commissioned him "Ambassador of Good-Will to America." Because of his lifelong commitment to others, Harrington received the most prestigious Dale Carnegie International Good Human Relations Award.

For Harrington, it began when he was born in Sweet Water, Ala. He attended Marion Military Institute, University of Alabama (where he joined the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity), and the New Orleans Theological Seminary. Harrington is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a medical corpsman assigned to the 3rd Marine Division. He takes pride in his community, and is involved in Rotary International as a Paul Harris Fellow.

His professional career includes: photography, life insurance (member of MDRT), master motivator, and corporate consultant. He shares his message with more than 200 of the Fortune 500, including the largest insurance companies, real estate and automobile businesses, civic and social clubs, chambers of commerce. He is a master at inspiring people to laugh, listen and learn.

Brother Harrington will be speaker at 7 p.m., Nov. 11 at Capital Baptist Church, 4555 South Edmonds Drive.

He also appreciates his time as associate pastor at the First Baptist Church of New Orleans under the guidance of Dr. J. D. Grey. It was during this time that Harrington opened an office on Bourbon Street for the purpose of helping people. He is a requested speaker in churches, both here in the U.S. and around the world. His identification with men's fellowships, women's fellowships, and youth groups endears Harrington to the entire church community. He takes his inspiration to college campuses, correctional institutions, military bases and is active in several national charities. He offers his time, energy and commitment whenever he sees people in need. Each year, he delivers more than 200 presentations reaching more than 250,000, and several million through the media.

Harrington is a frequent television guest being interviewed by Phil Donahue (18 times), Oprah, Hour Magazine, Good Morning America, Merv Griffin, and many more. Brother Harrington has appeared as guest with Jerry Falwell, Rex Humbard, Oral Roberts, Jim Bakker, James Robison, Paul and Jan Crouch, Action 60's and many other religious programs. Harrington is a CSW - Certified Soul Winner and is recognized as God's Super Salesman.
