Obituary: Catherine Cannady

ROANOKE, VA. - Catherine Johnson Cannady, 90, of Roanoke died here Friday.

She was a graduate of Jefferson High School, Longwood College and Radford College.

Mrs. Cannady was a teacher with the Roanoke County School System and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She managed the church's clothes closet for several years.

Mrs. Cannady was preceded in death by husband Roy L. Cannady Sr.

Survivors include sons Charles R. "Skip" Cannady of Carson City and Roy L. "Bud" Cannady Jr. of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; grandchildren Mindy Cannady of Reno, Jason and Janelle Henkle of Carson City, Roy L. "Rocky" Cannady III of Roanoke, Nancy Cannady of Roanoke, Harry Cannady of Roanoke and Derek Henkle of San Francisco, Calif.; sister Marie Nerren of Roanoke; stepdaughter Mrs. Graham Dukes of Waycross, Ga., and five step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Roanoke, with interment to follow in Fair View Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church Building Fund. Oakey's Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
