Obituary: Dolores DeHaven

A memorial service for Dolores Elaine DeHaven, 82, a Gardnerville resident for the past 25 years and former Carson City resident, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sharkey's Banquet Room, 1440 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

Mrs. DeHaven died Jan. 22, 2000, at Carson Convalescent Center. She was born April 18, 1917, in Mason to Herbert and Phoebe Mae Carpenter Hillygus.

Mrs. DeHaven managed Chechako Mining in Happy Camp, Calif., for six years. She was a bartender/hostess at Pinenut Lodge for four years and was in charge of public relations for Todd Russell Productions & Entertainment Agency for the state of Alaska for 10 years. She was a ranch cook for Dangberg Ranch in Gardnerville for five years and she licensed and ran Starlight Ranch in Dayton for 10 years.

She enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, reading and the company of good friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Baber, in 1968, in Carson City; daughter, LaVerne Fox of Gardnerville; three brothers and two sisters.

Among her survivors are her son, Todd Russell, of Gardnerville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Flowers may be sent to Sharkey's the day of the service.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
