Obituary: Vincent Smith

A military graveside service for Col. Vincent P. Smith, 81, a Minden resident for the past eight years, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Col. Smith died Oct. 4, 1999 in Seattle. He was born July 12, 1918, in Rosiclare, Ill., to Giles and Mildred Humphries Smith.

In 1973, upon retirement from the U.S. Army, he lived in Fayetteville, N.C., Satellite Beach, Fla., Yucca Valley, Calif. and Minden.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Gloria Smith Haines, of Seattle, Wash., and Brenda Smith Keeter, of Terre Haute, Ind.; one brother and five grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery, is in charge of arrangements.
