Paths are lifeline through community

Why the bike path?

Childhood obesity, air pollution, lack of community, pedestrian fatalities. These are all threats to our way of life. I read letters from people who do not understand why the multimodal pathway is important to our community. This pathway will connect six schools with Governor's Field, Edmond's Field and the Boys & Girls Club. It will allow children and adults to travel around the community on a pathway that cars can't use.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to place a lifeline of non- motorized transportation through our community. Large cities would die to have this. The federal government wants to pay for this. They have clearly stated that national transportation funds are to be spent on multimodal pathways. The pathway has been included in the bypass plans since the inception of the bypass. Why is NDOT separating out the costs of the bike path rather than the costs of a specific bridge or intersection? We all know that new roads bring more traffic. There will always be a need for more road construction.

There will never be another opportunity to build this lifeline. If you support this please contact the State Transporation Board.
