WELLS, Nev. - Police in Wells are investigating their first homicide in 20 years, the shooting of a man from Poland outside a brothel.
Rafal, Lajczak, 29, was fatally shot Friday outside the Hacienda brothel. The man suspected of killing him also was shot and remains hospitalized at Elko General Hospital, Wells Police Chief Landon Murray said.
Lajczak was driving through town last week when his car broke down, Murray said.
While waiting for his car to be repaired, he decided to visit the legal house of prostitution in the town 45 miles east of Elko. Once inside, he got in argument with another patron.
The suspect went outside and got a .357-caliber Ruger handgun from his car and allegedly shot Lajzcak in the back, Murray said.
Lajzcak wrestled with the suspect, got the gun away and shot him in the stomach. He later died.
The suspect's stomach wound is not life threatening, Murray said.
