Professionals in newspaper, radio and television will be honored Friday at the Reno Media Press Club's Annual Awards Banquet at the River Central Convention Center.
Former Nevada Gov. Mike O'Callaghan, executive editor and chairman of the board of the Las Vegas Sun, will be the featured speaker. Nevada State Sen. William Raggio, R-Reno, will present the awards. Proceeds will benefit the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno.
There will be no-host cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per person.
Awards will be in 18 categories, plus a Lifetime Achievement and Media Person of the Year honors.
The awards are named after media personalities and individuals who represent the best of their journalistic disciplines.
