Rose, Goodman and Lane speak at Judicial College

The Don Reynolds National Center for the Courts and Media will be dedicated in June with a three day conference featuring Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice bob Rose, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and former Washoe District Judge Mills Lane.

Rose will be featured in the panel discussing Election v. Appointment of Judges and the Media's Role in the Process." Rose was a Clark County District Judge, Nevada lieutenant governor and Washoe County district attorney before his election to the Supreme Court.

Goodman, one of the nation's best known criminal defense attorneys before his election as Las Vegas mayor, will join the discussion on Fair Trial v. Free Press in High Profile Criminal Trials.

Lane, former Washoe district attorney and a Washoe district judge until he resigned to host a courtroom television show, will participate in Television Judges - Do They Impact the Public's Trust and Confidence in the Courts.

The conference will be held June 8-10 at the newly completed center designed to foster dialogue between the courts and press and provide research on issues involving the tension between rights to a fair trial and the public's right to information about court cases.

The center is located at the University of Nevada Reno.
