State should fix rough part of street

We are all aware of the changes that come about when the state has to repair our roads or make changes when adding new highways and/or roads.

Last summer and fall we suffered through the East College Parkway extension to Graves Lane. The project stopped at the fire station. I live behind the so-called sound wall between the fire station and Lompa Lane. As we all know, that stretch of the road is very rough and in need of repair.

I have contacted two individuals at the Nevada Department of Transportation since the road is state property. After my first call, a Band-aid approach was made to repair the rough surface but all they succeeded in doing was to make it rougher. I was told that they would repair the surface and smooth it out but nothing has been done. I now call and leave messages and to date I have not had a response.

I have lived at the same address for 22 years, and I have never experienced anything like the "shake, rattle and roll" we now have. I can deal with the added traffic but to be awakened every morning at 4:30 a.m. by a truck driving through, rattling the windows and shaking the house is just too much. Someone has to assume responsibility.

Within the sound walls there live senior folks, some ill and in need of their rest, so what will it take to urge NDOT to complete the project they started and never finished? Maybe someone from NDOT will give us an answer.
