Walker River Basin Technical Network - another piece of the effort to develop a viable plan to save the lake.
WHAT IS IT
An association of all researchers, scientists, agencies, organizations and individuals interested in Walker River Watershed issues. It is sponsored by the Nevada Division of Water Planning.
PURPOSE
Provide a forum for individuals interested in the Walker River Basin to share information, data, research projects and ideas about the Walker River Watershed. The network maintains no official policy or position on any watershed issues.
Two committees/working groups have been formed:
-- A 10-member program committee is responsible for developing meeting agendas and speakers.
-- A 15-member modeling working group assists the Nevada Division of Water Planning in developing a water budget for the basin and a water model for the Walker River.
MEMBERSHIP
Open to any person interested in the Walker River watershed. There are no dues or membership requirements.
MEETINGS
Three or four meetings are held per year. The first meeting was held September 1995.
CURRENT NETWORK PARTICIPANTS INCLUDE
Walker River Irrigation District, water users in Bridgeport, Antelope, Smith and Mason Valleys, environmental organizations, engineering consultants, researchers from UNR and UC Berkley, Lyon, Douglas, Mineral and Mono Counties, Conservation Districts, Sate water agencies, BLM, BOR, BIA, USFWS, COE, USGS, Walker River Paiute Tribe, Yerington Paiute Tribe, and others.
