A weather pattern bringing a storm into Northern Nevada every few days will continue through Sunday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 40-percent chance of precipitation in Carson City early this morning, clearing out today.

Another storm is predicted to roll through the area on Sunday, when rain or snow is likely.

Wednesday's early storm dumped eight inches of new snow in the Tahoe Basin.

The new snow proved to be treacherous for a skier, who suffered a broken leg in an avalanche at Alpine Meadows 1p.m. Wednesday.

The man was skiing out of bounds at the resort near Truckee when he and a fellow skier cut across a ridge that collapsed, sending him down the mountain toward a tree.

According to broadcast reports, the man was rescued within 15 minutes of being buried. The man was taken to Tahoe-Forest Hospital in Truckee.

It took the ski patrol some time to rescue him, because he was out of bounds, according to KRNV-TV.

His name was not released.
