Elmer J. Henning, 85, a Carson City resident for the past 20 years, died March 29, 2002, in a Carson City hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Janesville, Wis.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Sacramento for 17 years and later moved to Ogden, Utah, and Fallon before moving to Carson City.
Mr. Henning was a retired signalman for the Southern Pacific Railroad, serving more than 23 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman Union.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife Helen; stepsons Larry Rosen of Orland, Calif., Ted Rosen of Lodi, Calif., and Don Rosen of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; stepdaughter Deloris Ross of Woodland, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
