A funeral for Bernard James Dziabo, 68, a Minden resident for the past six years, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.
Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home.
Mr. Dziabo died April 11, 2002, in Minden. He was born July 21, 1933, in Gallitzin, Pa., to John and Elizabeth Krosky Dziabo.
He graduated from high school in 1952.
Before moving to Minden, he lived in Salinas, Calif. for 42 years.
Mr. Dziabo served as a cook for the U.S. Army Hospital, Ft. Ord, Calif. , retiring in 1988 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Elks and he was active in high school sports and children's sports, all in Salinas.
He served two years in the U.S. Army, joining the Navy Reserves in 1952 and was drafted in 1953 during the Korean conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Edward.
Among his survivors are his wife Diane of Minden; daughter Kathryn Dziabo of Bend, Ore.; sons Steve of Gardnerville and Michael of Minden; brothers Joseph Stock, John Dziabo and Anthony Dziabo and sisters Matilda Stock, Josephine Descanio, Lucy Shall, Elizabeth Marnecheck and Stella Phillips.
Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
