Herbert James Oliver, 80, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, died Dec. 21, 2002, at his home. He was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Portland, Ore., to Herbert M. and Ellen Lovitt Oliver.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Palo Alto, Calif., for many years.
Mr. Oliver was a mechanical engineer.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Among his survivors are his children Michael of Carson City, Michelle Buhlert of Placerville, Calif., and Marcie Thompson of Redding, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
At his request, no service will be held.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
